After nearly two decades in the industry, Amanda’s come close to doing it all. She’s done the early, weekend and late night shifts. Coordinated presidential elections and candidate visits. She’s watched “small market” talent make it big, and mentored young reporters in her hometown.Amanda’s first job in TV was at KKCO 11 News, she worked at the station while at Fruita Monument High School (go Wildcats!) and again right out of college. She returned to the Western slope after a short stint in Madison, Wisconsin in 2008, and became the station’s later that year. After graduating from Fruita Monument High School, Amanda left the Western Slope, but didn’t go too far. She attended the University of Colorado at Boulder and graduated with Dean’s List honors from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication. After internships in Denver at KCNC CBS 4 and KDVR Fox 31 and graduation, Amanda returned to the Grand Valley and started her broadcast career as the Anchor of 11 News Today (now Daybreak). After two years, Amanda felt she should see what else was out in the world. Amanda jumped at the chance to move to Madison, Wis. and work as a Reporter/Weekend Anchor. It didn’t take long for Amanda to realize that her priorities were in Western Colorado, where her family and friends were. “I want the news I cover to affect me, and my family. Working at KKCO 11 News I get to tell stories that impact me and my family in Western Colorado. The stories in our newscasts are of people just like me, and my loved ones. I didn’t have that personal connection working away from home.”
