FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) The restaurant that taken up a corner of the Ash Skyline Plaza is closing. The Golden Owner, Aaron Butts, said the restaurant last day at that location will be Sunday.
However, Butts hinted the restaurant may not be leaving Fort Wayne for good. In a text he said have not made an official announcement yet but our last day of business will be November 12th. Sad but it’s not the end for us. We’ll be back! However, he did not comment further in what capacity the restaurant may return.
The Golden opened in June 2016. The head chefs, Butts included, were chefs atRoanoke’s critically acclaimedJoseph Decuis. This summer the restaurant hosted a block party to celebrate its one year anniversary.
NewsChannel 15 contacted the City of Fort Wayne for reaction to closing announcement and got the following response:
It’s unfortunate to see The Golden will be closing. We wish them the best in their future endeavors. With the continued positive momentum and investments we’re experiencing in Fort Wayne, we’re confident there will be interest by the private sector to occupy that space.” John Perlich, City of Fort Wayne Spokesman
A Ruth Chris steakhouse is scheduled to open in the Skyline Tower. A February 2016 announcement regarding Ruth Chris indicated the upscale eatery would open in the fall of 2017, however the opening has been pushed back to 2018.
